Christmas in Cirencester
Christmas in Cirencester is always special and creates a truly memorable family outing in our vibrant, beautiful and historical market town of Cirencester; ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’.
Take a look at the Advent Markets 2024
Advent Markets 2025
29 and 30 November
The Advent Market and Light Switch-On event and street market, will be held over 2-days on the 29 and 30 November, with over 200 stalls across the two days, music, live performances, street entertainment, activities, big screens and much more! The town centre will be closed to traffic and stalls will extend from Castle Street to the top of Cricklade Street and throughout the length of the Market Place, as far as the Fleece Hotel. The bus stop outside Dyer House will not be in use and the taxi rank will be moved to an area outside Dyer House.
The market will run from 10am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.
The Town Council has partnered with Keystone Conference & Event Management Ltd and Pro LX to put together a programme of performances inside the Parish Church on the Saturday, featuring local theatre groups, choirs and musicians. This will be live streamed onto 3 big screens situated on the Market Place and West Market Place.
The Parish Church has kindly allocated space for charities and community organisations to raise funds and offer information and support. There will be plenty of street entertainment including Santa, with his sleigh.
At approximately 4.30pm on Saturday, the Light Switch On ceremony, will be played across 3 Big Screens. Our lead sponsor, accompanied by the Mayor of Cirencester, Cannon Graham Morris and Cirencester’s self proclaimed ‘Mr. Christmas’, Vernon Harwood will be featured. Street entertainment and low noise fireworks will take place in the Market Place to add to the festive atmosphere.
This year more space will be allocated on the Market Place, both to the front and the rear (West Market Place), to allow a greater space for people to stand and watch the ceremony on the Big Screens. The front of the Church will be a food plaza throughout the day. To the rear of the Church there will be a 3rd Big Screen and a designated festive selfie area with additional drinks and treat stalls. Santa, fun activities and street performances.
