Cirencester Town Council occupies an honoured position in serving the townsfolk of Cirencester.
The Council seeks to provide a proactive service thus encouraging the role of Cirencester as "Capital of the Cotswolds".
Cirencester has a wonderful history and accordingly, the Town Council, whilst seeking to recognise and protect the town's heritage, is also making every effort to enable the townspeople to enjoy a quality of life compatible with the 21st Century.
This last aim is perhaps epitomised by the use of wind turbines to generate lighting on the footpaths and cycleways within the recently constructed Kingshill Lane Sports Development.
The Council through this website hope to provide not only information for visitors to the site but also to facilitate links to other sites that support and benefit the town.
"If I had a foreign friend visiting from abroad, I think the first place I would take him would be the Cotswolds. It is English architecture at its most English and Cirencester is the self-proclaimed capital."

Charter Market
Cirencester Charter Market was founded in 1086 and whilst many markets have disappeared, the Town Council is in a position where it is still able to provide a Charter Market on both Mondays and Fridays (9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.).
Products sold by the regular market traders include cheese, homemade pies, home cured ham and bacon, wet fish, fruit and vegetables, olives, gifts, cards and much more.
Come and see for yourselves and support this valuable and historical attraction.
If you would like further information on the Charter Market or are interested in hiring a stall, please contact the Charter Market Manager, Anne Brooker, on Tel No. 01793 825343 or 07729 524017.
