Cirencester Farmers' Market | Cirencester Town Council

Cirencester Farmers' Market

Cirencester's Farmers’ Market has been running for over ten years, and in that time the market has become established as a part of life in the town. The Market celebrated its tenth anniversary on 12th September 2009 - with the help of Jackie Llewelyn-Bowen, Pam Ayres and Elizabeth Hurley ... and of course, you, the public.

On a hot Saturday morning in September 1999, twenty nervous stallholders manned their pitches on the edge of the (now vanished) cattle market, and were overwhelmed by the response from the public. After a decade in which most of the small food shops disappeared from the town, the market provided a chance to buy meat, vegetables, and a host of other foods – including milk and cream – from small, local, producers.

In October 2002, with the cattle market facing redevelopment, the Farmers’ Market moved to its natural home – The Market Place, right in the town centre and dominated by the massive tower of the St John Baptist Church.

The market is held from 9.00 am until 1.00 pm on Saturday mornings twice a month, on the second and fourth Saturdays.

Cirencester Town Council is taking over the running of the Farmers' Market and is delighted to announce that it will be working with The Cotswold Chef™, Rob Rees MBE. Read our Press Release for further details.
